PESHAWAR: In an attempt to bring peace back to the area, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Apex Committee approved on Friday the demolition of all private bunkers in the Kurram district.
At the high-level meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and attended by the Inspector General, the provincial chief secretary, the Peshawar Corps Commander, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and important cabinet members, the important decision was reached.
Since July, more than 200 people have been slain in tribal conflicts; since the start of the most recent wave of fighting, several truces have been declared while elders from both sides try to reach a permanent deal.
Following a security convoy, the government has closed important highways leading into and out of the district in an effort to stop the bloodshed.
