PESHAWAR: The likelihood of an epidemic of the mosquito-borne illness in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has increased due to the increasing incidence of dengue.
Health officials report that the number of dengue cases in the province this year has risen to 904 with the addition of 53 additional cases.
“The authorities are puzzled by this new wave of infections and fear violent outbreaks, particularly in Peshawar, which has reported 244 cases, the highest in the province,” a news release from the province said.
He stated that while 17 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals at the moment, the majority of cases were unable to be screened since the patients preferred receiving care in their communities, primarily from clinics run by unlicensed medical professionals.
Officials demand that the action plan be effectively enforced.
“Peshawar is following in the footsteps of 2017, when 20,000 instances of dengue and 60 fatalities were recorded, overtaxing medical facilities.
