The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has declared that it will be imposing a new tobacco tax in the form of provincial excise charge.
This action is intended to bring in more money that will be given to the health sector, as stated by KP Finance Adviser Muzzammil Aslam.
It was discussed at a recent meeting of the KP Revenue Department, presided over by Aslam, that the excise tax on tobacco products will be used to support the province’s healthcare system. Khaleequr Rehman, the provincial minister of excise, along with other high-ranking officials attended the meeting.
