PESHAWAR: According to The News, the vast majority of Afghan nationals living in Pakistan are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and they were recently urged to leave the country by March 31.
There are currently 2.1 million Afghans living in Pakistan. For decades, hundreds of thousands of Afghan nationals have been residing in Pakistan without proper documentation.
In 2023, however, most of them went back to their homeland as part of a voluntary repatriation program.
“1.3 million Afghan refugees have gotten Proof of Registration Cards out of the total 2.1 million. The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) spokesperson, Qasier Afridi, told The News that more over 52 percent of them are in KP.
