PARACHINAR, PESHAWAR: Road closures have made matters worse for residents of the violence-plagued district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the situation in Kurram is still dire due to a severe lack of food, medicine, fuel, and other necessities.
Due to the 76-day closure of the key Kurram-Peshawar route, locals staged a four-day sit-in at the Parachinar Press Club, which was also attended by children.
The demonstrators have insisted that their sit-in will go on until the highways are reopened, claiming that people are starving as a result of the acute food crisis.
Speaking about road closures, Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javidullah Mehsud reaffirmed the government’s position, stating that security concerns are the reason behind the routes’ closure.
