According to The News, Lord Waheed Alli, a television executive who has donated to Labour over the past two decades, was given access to Downing Street even though he is not employed by the government.
Labor claimed he did attend a few non-citizen political events and that he returned his pass at the end of July.
Lord Alli’s pass was “all entirely within the rules, and not unusual,” according to a government source.
Cabinet minister Pat McFadden stated earlier on Sunday on News:
It’s not rare, in my opinion, for people to get passes in order to attend political gatherings when necessary.
“I don’t think he’s got the pass now but he may have had one in the past.”
Tony Blair made Lord Alli a knight in 1998. Hired by Sir Keir Starmer in 2022, he also served as the party’s main fundraiser for the general election.
