Today, as part of their protest, the legal fraternity in Lahore locked the session court’s doors and began a judicial boycott.
Leading the charge are well-known members of the Lahore Bar, who are lobbying for the acceptance of eight main demands, among them the dismissal of cases brought against their colleagues and the defense of basic rights.
The attorneys forbade court employees and police from entering the courthouse during the demonstration. One of the important leaders, Munir Hussain Bhatti, sent a strong message to the administration, requesting that their requests be granted by Tuesday at 5 p.m. (today).
“If our demands are not met, we will escalate the protest to the Punjab Assembly and the High Court and take the matter to the President,” Bhatti stated.
