“I’m here to push for a ceasefire,” he stated. “The number of deaths in the past few months is appalling. It must end.”
In addition, Mr. Lammy called for an increase in the amount of aid going to Gaza and the release of all captives detained there.
On Sunday, the recently appointed minister met with PM Mohammad Mustafa of the Palestinian Authority and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Also, he met relatives of hostages who are still being held in Gaza and who are connected to the UK.
Following the meeting, Sharon Sharabi, whose brothers Yossi and Elie were kidnapped on October 7, stated:

The government of the United Kingdom has pledged to participate in a process with all pertinent parties.”The Israeli military declared in February that Yossi Sharabi had died, most likely as a result of an IDF airstrike. It’s believed that his body is still in Gaza.
