During its silver jubilee ceremony on Monday, the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) announced the introduction of Pakistan’s first “dematerialized digital identity card.”
An important turning point in the national identity system has been reached with this development.
During the event, a book detailing Nadra’s 25-year history, a commemorative coin from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and a special postage stamp from Pakistan Post were unveiled.
Major General Retd Zahid Ihsan, the founding chairman of Nadra, was the main guest at a special celebration hosted at Nadra headquarters.
The special secretary of the interior, the chief statistician of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the director-general of Immigration and Passport, former chairpersons, board members, and top officials were among the other guests, along with Lieutenant General Retd Asif Munir, the chairman of Nadra.
