The 35-year-old Australian’s performance has not impressed Red Bull management, and he has been sacked with six races remaining.
By giving Lawson the seat, Red Bull may evaluate him throughout the remaining races before deciding on their 2025 strategy.
“Daniel has brought a lot of experience and talent to the team with a fantastic attitude, which has helped everyone to develop and foster a tight team spirit,” stated Laurent Mekies, principal of the RB team.
“He has always had a smile on his face and has been a real gentleman both on and off the track. Though he will be missed, he will always have a particular place in the Red Bull family.
In an Instagram message, Ricciardo stated, “I’ve always enjoyed this sport. It’s been an amazing and adventurous journey.
“I want to express my gratitude to all of the groups and individuals that contributed. Thank you to the supporters who, at times, have a greater passion for the sport than I do. Although there will always be highs and lows, it has been enjoyable, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
