ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari commemorated the 19th anniversary of the terrible 2005 earthquake, which left thousands of people dead in northeastern Pakistan.
While PM Shehbaz recommended effective coordination and the creation of contingency plans to lessen the effects of climate change, President Zardari called for the construction of climate-resilient infrastructure in their tributes to the victims of the terrible earthquake.
Speaking on “National Resilience Day,” the premiers of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) shared their thoughts with the nation.
Pakistan observes this day annually on October 8 to honor those who lost their lives in the devastating 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck AJK and KP on the same date in 2005.
