LAHORE: The deputy commissioner (DC) of Lahore was directed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday to make a decision by 5 p.m. on the PTI’s request to host a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8, which is designated as “Black Day” and the first anniversary of the general elections in 2023.
When PTI Punjab Chief Organiser Aliya Hamza petitioned for permission to hold the public meeting on February 3, Justice Farooq Haider issued the order.
In order to provide clarification on the process for issuing such clearances, the court called Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman during the hearing. When DC Musa Raza and the chief secretary appeared in court, the judge asked if there was a deadline for making decisions on these applications.
