On Wednesday evening, the public prosecutors’ office ordered a special investigations unit to visit the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires.
According to a government official who spoke to The Associated Press, officers confiscated items such as computer hard drives and hotel camera recordings.
Following rumors of cocaine being discovered in the former One Direction singer’s system, Argentine authorities stated that a toxicology examination of his body has not yet been finished.
A representative of the local public prosecutor’s office informed the singer’s family that the body cannot be delivered to the family until the findings of that examination and a histopathology report are received.
Payne may have been “semi or totally unconscious” when he fell from his hotel balcony, according to authorities.
It comes after Kate Cassidy, Payne’s two-year girlfriend, disclosed that the two had intended to tie the knot the following year.
