A Field General Court Martial (FGCM) has found former Pakistani Army commander Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Hussain guilty of inciting sedition and sentenced him to 14 years of hard prison.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) made the conviction public on Tuesday.
Hussain was convicted on May 10, 2024, after it was determined that he had attempted to erode the loyalty of army soldiers. On July 26, 2024, his military rank was forfeited due to the conviction.
This is the most recent in a string of ex-service members found guilty of espionage and sedition.
For identical actions, the FGCM also found former Captain Haider Raza Mehdi and former Major Adil Farooq Raja guilty in October 2023.The convictions demonstrate how the Pakistani military is adamant about opposing any perceived danger to its power and the security of the country.
