Observations made on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s social media profiles suggest that they never mentioned Princess Lilibet.
In2021, the Prince and Princess of Wales used their X account to congratulate Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the birth of their second child. The Wales couple referred to the child as baby “Lili” in their correspondence and avoided addressing her by name.
In their post, the couple said, “We are overjoyed to learn of baby Lili’s arrival. To Harry, Meghan, and Archie, congratulations.”
“Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lilibet Diana!” the Royal Family tweeted in the meanwhile.
“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news.”
This coincides with the revelation by author Robert Hardman that Queen Elizabeth II was incensed that the Sussexes had adopted her childhood moniker for their daughter.
According to a private recollection, Elizabeth II was “as angry as I’d ever seen her” in 2021 when the Sussexes declared that the Queen had approved of them calling their newborn daughter “Lilibet,” after the Queen’s childhood nickname.
