At a Tanzeem Ittehadul Madaris meeting on December 17, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), increased pressure on the government over the seminary registration bill by threatening the ruling coalition that no one could stop them if they decided to march on Islamabad.
His comments were made just a few hours before the religio-political party’s deadline passed. The government must adopt the seminary registration measure by December 8th, according to the JUI-F.
The JUI-F chairman announced during a public gathering in Peshawar that a conference of Ittehadul Madaris, a group of Madaris organizations that represent the main schools of thought, would be held to develop a cooperative plan for Madaris registration.
