In a letter to premier league teams, City criticized the league for including “several inaccuracies” in its statement of the case ruling.
The news was able to obtain a letter that was sent on Monday to all 19 teams and the league by Simon Cliff, the general counsel for City.
A panel found two sections of the associated party transaction (APT) rules to be invalid, upholding some of the charges made against City, which is controlled by the City Football Group, which is financed by Abu Dhabi.
They asserted that their lawsuit had “successfully” concluded.
The Premier League, however, praised the tribunal’s conclusions as well, stating that they “endorsed the overall decision” and rejected most of Manchester City’s arguments.
APTs are designed to ensure that sponsorship agreements with businesses associated with club owners are fair market value.
What did the letter say?
Premier League CEO Richard Masters summarized the panel’s decision, and Cliff responded with “clarifications” to “assist member clubs with their understanding” in the letter.
Unfortunately, Cliff says, the summary is inaccurate in various ways and deceptive.
