LONDON: A British-Pakistani man was sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to smuggle 72 firearm parts into the UK from Pakistan in a car.
After a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation revealed that Yasir Khan, 40, was responsible for the attempt to import 36 top slides and 36 barrels of 9mm Glock self-loading pistols in a 1976 Datsun Sunny, he entered a guilty plea.
The load was skillfully concealed within the car.
During a search at London Gateway Port on July 7, 2024, NCA partners from Border Force found the illegal parts hidden in the gasoline tank, under the engine block, and beneath the windscreen.
Khan, who purported to be a car salesman, was the subject of an inquiry by NCA detectives.
