In an interview with News, Mark Logan, the 2019 Conservative MP for Bolton North East, announced his resignation from the party and urged voters to support Labour in the general election on July 4.
Mr. Logan declared, “The decision today has been all about whether or not I’d be standing as a Conservative MP or backing Labour… and I’ve gone for the latter,” on News’s Politics Hub With Ali Fortescue. He would not be running for a new seat as a Labour candidate.
However, he went on, “It’s just time for a shift. Now is the moment for hope from a fresh movement.
And I think the Labour Party is providing that.”
He has been an outspoken opponent of the government’s Gaza policy in recent months, and he is now urging the UK to recognize Palestine as a nation.
As he greeted the newcomer to his party, Labour leader Sir Keir said, “Voters across the country are looking to Labour for change. I’m happy that Mark Logan has chosen to cast his ballot for Labour in the forthcoming general election.
