At the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday, South Africa scored 82 runs at a cost of three wickets to end the first day of the first Test match against Pakistan.
Khurram Shahzad of Pakistan had dealt the Proteas an early punch at the start of their inning when he removed opening batsman Tony de Zori in the third over.
Ryan Rickelton joined Aiden Markram, the other opener, but Shahzad struck again and dismissed the newcomer after he had just put eight runs on the board.
Tristan Stubbs, Rickelton’s replacement, faced 28 balls as Markram continued to pile runs on the scoreboard.
Stubbs’ brief appearance was cut short when he was dismissed on nine runs by Mohammad Abbas.
After remaining consistent throughout the innings, Markram was joined by Temba, the captain.
