The tennis icon protested the Biden administration’s Title IX rewrite alongside other well-known female athletes at the Independent Women’s Forum’s “Take Back Title IX” demonstration.
At first, Navratilova stated that she and other Democrats made every effort to level the playing field so that transgender athletes may participate in women’s sports. But after investigating that idea further, she found it to be an impossibility.
At the beginning, she added, we in this group—Democrats for the most part and women—were attempting to figure out how to allow trans-identified guys, or men who identify as women, to participate in women’s sports in every manner possible. And the more we look for ways to lessen the advantage, to handicap, or to somehow include, the more we realize that’s not going to happen. We are in a very different situation here, so it is not feasible to do it fairly.
As I dug further into the matter, I also discovered that women’s sex-based spaces and women’s sports are closely related; the Penn swimmers, for example, would be able to tell you all about it. You’ve been informed about it.
