“I was in support of Barrister Gohar as party chairman,” Marwat stated after the two met in a happy mood.
A video of the two hugging one other at a PTI office went popular on social media after their relationship appeared to deteriorate following Marwat’s statements regarding Gohar’s dismissal as the party’s leader due to “unsatisfactory” performance.
However, today the lawyer-turned-politician explained that his words were directed at the entire party leadership.
“I did not use the word ‘incompetent’ for Barrister Gohar,” he added, adding that he wants to assure PTI workers that there are “no rifts” between the two leaders.
“Barrister Gohar will remain the PTI chairman in the coming times,” he said in a statement.
Barrister Gohar stated that PTI does not want to get into personal conflicts.
Earlier today, the former ruling party issued a show-cause notice to Marwat over the matter.
The PTI, in the notice, asked Marwat to submit an apology letter within two days, saying that action would be taken as per party policy in case of a non-satisfactory answer.
