RAWALPINDI: According to his attorney, imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan thanked Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday for freeing thousands of Pakistani detainees.
His comments were made the day after Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told the Senate that, from 2019 to 2024, the kingdom has released 7,208 inmates from Pakistan.
When then-prime minister Khan visited Pakistan in February 2019, Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman made a plea for the release of Pakistani detainees. The crown prince authorized the release of numerous Pakistani inmates a few days after the landmark visit.
