On Wednesday, the fraternal and identical twins from Needham, Massachusetts’ Pollard Middle School received their diplomas.
“Quite unusual” was how headteacher Tamatha Bibbo characterized the incident.
“We usually have a maximum of five to ten sets.
“Given our numbers, we have approximately 450 to 500 children in each grade so this was extraordinarily high.”
The 23 sets of twins received special recognition from the school during the “moving up” ceremony.
All graduates at Pollard Middle School are required to have done a minimum of ten hours of community service learning, and the Needham Exchange Club grants five community service awards annually.
An additional student, a twin, has graduated; nevertheless, her brother is enrolled at an alternative institution.
The National Center for Health Statistics estimates that 3% of live births in the US are twins.
