A citywide operation to recover public places has been launched by the Sindh government and the Metropolitan Corporation Karachi.
Following a meeting between Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, the decision was made to provide Assistant Commissioners more authority to take effective action against encroachments.
The Sindh Government has made it a priority to remove encroachments from the areas surrounding hospitals as part of their effort to guarantee unfettered access to medical amenities. The government’s pledge was reaffirmed by Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who declared that “strong actions will be taken to eliminate encroachments across the city.”
As part of larger urban management changes, the city would be freed of encroachments, according to Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah.
