Willis talked about how he used drugs and alcohol to deal with his constant sense of being “less than” in most circumstances, according to the news.
In addition, the singer claimed that his rise to popularity at the age of 19 was overpowering and alienating, which is why he turned to drugs for connection and confidence.
“It gave me confidence and the ability to talk to people, to girls, to adults,” he said.
According to the publication, his addiction worsened despite his early success, resulting in three stays in treatment before the age of 25.
