Following clashes between its followers and “unarmed” police officers carrying out security responsibilities during their much-discussed “final call” rally, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intends to hold violent protests around the nation similar to those that occurred on May 9.
Imran Khan, the incarcerated party founder, has called for PTI supporters to assemble at D-Chowk in the federal capital and remain there until their demands are fulfilled, and they are doing just that. The party wants the incarcerated former premier released, among other things.
“They want May 9 Part II,” the provincial minister stated this morning at a hastily summoned press conference in Lahore.
In fights with the PTI demonstrators, she continued, a police constable was killed and almost 70 others were injured.
