ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, in the National Assembly, Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb unveiled the Federal Budget 2024–25 and revealed a health insurance program for media professionals.
In the second part of the initiative, 10,000 more people would receive the facility, while 5,000 journalists and media professionals would receive health insurance, according to Aurangzeb.
The 60-year-old praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for taking up the role of premier for a second time and resuming a health insurance program.
The minister expressed gratitude to Attaullah Tarar, the minister of information and broadcasting, and his staff for their assistance in bringing the program back online.
Senator Aurangzeb also disclosed the government’s cutting-edge initiatives to address the climate problem during the budget speech. Among these efforts include the creation of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority, whose mission is to carry out efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Additionally, he stated that plans were on to finalize a National Climate Finance Strategy by October 2024, which would aid in the development of plans to bring international climate finance to Pakistan and support the implementation of carbon emission reduction programs.
The Minister also declared that data on climate finance obtained from international funding facilities would be maintained on a national digital climate finance monitoring dashboard.
