In an exclusive interview with Samaa Digital, the Met Office responded to numerous media reports that stated that Eidul Fitr is expected to fall on April 11.
According to the projection quoted in those papers, Pakistanis will observe 30 fasts throughout the ongoing Ramadan, which began on March 12. The Shawwal moon sighting, which is scheduled on Wednesday, April 10, will establish the exact day of Eidul Fitr celebrations.
A Met Office representative in Islamabad told Samaa Digital that forecasting or publicizing Eid dates is not their business; the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee declares moon sightings. We only deal with weather forecasting.”
In December of last year, the Cabinet Division released a list of current holidays.According to the Eidul Fitr holiday schedule, Pakistanis can enjoy five days off between April 10 and April 14 (Wednesday through Sunday), with the holidays extending into the weekend.
