Following user reports of an increase in violent and explicit content on their Instagram Reels accounts, Meta has apologized.
Despite users having sensitive content restrictions set to their maximum level, the corporation acknowledged on Thursday that it has fixed the “error” that caused the “inappropriate content recommendations.”
“We have fixed an error that caused some users to see content in their Instagram Reels feed that should not have been recommended,” said a Meta representative, who apologized for the incident. We are sorry for the error.
Instagram users were alarmed by the problem and rushed to social media to express their annoyance at seeing graphic violence and other upsetting stuff in their feeds. Even with Instagram’s “Sensitive” feature, some users reported seeing these kinds of posts.
