Miftah Ismail, Secretary General of Awam Pakistan (AP), pleaded with the organization on Tuesday to cut costs.
The former finance minister voiced his opinions and requested that the government lower the power bill. “It is not necessary to increase the expenses by Rs1400 billion from Rs700 billion for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP),” he stated.
“The middle-class and salaried segments of society are unrelated to the soaring power bills,” Ismail insisted. Why must they [people] take the burden of other people’s subsidies?”
A brand-new political group
A new party named ‘Awaam Pakistan’ was formally founded a few days ago on Saturday by former PML-N leaders Miftah Ismail and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who declared it to be “open for all” to join.
The leaders have long debated whether to establish a new political body to aid in resolving the nation’s recurring problems.
After a video with the theme “Awaam Pakistan Badlaingey Nizaam” was shared on the party’s X account last month, Awaam Pakistan became visible in the political landscape.
The video, which featured a number of dejected residents asking concerns about various national issues, was posted by both Ismail and Abbasi. Saturday marked the official start of the celebration.
