Defense Minister Khawaja Asif responded on Saturday to the military court’s decision to convict those responsible for the May 9 riots by saying that political violence would continue until those responsible for the terrible day were held accountable.
In a post on his social media account, X, Asif stated, “The hands of the law have so far reached the collars of the activists who were used [in the incident].”
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 25 participants in the May 9, 2023, strikes on state installations have been punished by military courts.
Regarding the suspects who used force, the military’s media wing stated on Saturday that “Field General Court Martial (FGCM) have in [the] first phase promulgated the punishments to 25 accused.”
