Miss USA Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA UmaSofia Srivastava, who were both crowned in August 2023, startled fans in May by resigning from their positions only two days apart. Gankiewicz, Miss Hawaii 2023 and first runner-up to Miss USA, accepted her title less than two weeks later in a ceremony in Waikiki, Hawaii, where she was crowned by Hawaii Gov. Dr. Josh Green.
After only three months as Miss USA, Gankiewicz will crown her successor at the next Miss USA competition on August 4 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
In an interview with News ahead of the pageant, Gankiewicz described her reaction upon learning that Voigt had stepped down.
“I was in Bali when I received the call because I also lived there part-time, and I was stunned. “I didn’t know how to handle the situation,” Gankiewicz, 28, explained.
