On June 15, 2022, as the woman was texting, Mizzy—real name Bacari-Bronze O’Garro—stole the £1,000 iPhone from her while she was riding a Lime bike, according to testimony given in Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Amy Gault stated that local police officers “noticed Mr. O’Garro cycling in a way that they deemed him to be trying to get away from something,” which led them to chase the then-17-year-old.
After being detained for a while, he was convicted guilty of stealing in April.
Judge Michael Oliver sentenced the 19-year-old to a year and a half in community service, and ordered him to reimburse the victim £500.
O’Garro must fulfill 15 days of rehabilitative activities and 100 hours of unpaid labor as part of the community orders.
In her words, the judge will “serve to punish you and make reparations to the community at large” with this punishment.
Ruby Hewitt testified in court that she was “stressed, anxious and quite scared for my safety” following the robbery in Islington, north London’s Highbury New Park.
