A plane carrying thirty Pakistani students touched down in Lahore on Saturday night after they were left stranded in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, due to anti-foreign mob assaults.
The students were met at the Lahore airport by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who was also joined by a sizable number of their relatives.
The situation occurred just hours after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that all travel costs for Pakistani students who were stuck and wanted to return home would be covered by the federal government because international students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, were being threatened by mob violence.
A fight between residents and Egyptian nationals on May 13 set off violent violence that left at least five Pakistani students hurt.
