On May 31, 2018, it was believed that Sunnah Khan, 12, and Joe Abbess, 17, had been caught in a riptide along the pier at the seaside town in Dorset. As a result, they passed away.
The paramedics treated eight other patients.
The families of the two spoke about their loss on Tuesday at the Dorset Coroner’s Court in Bournemouth.
According to Joe’s mother Vanessa, the loss of their “generous, loving, caring, hardworking, and funny” son has left the family “devastated”.
The Southampton Football Club trainee chef was “a wonderful son, brother, and friend and we are all devastated by his death,” the woman said.
“We are all very sorry that he will never be able to fulfil his dreams and ambitions,” she continued. “We were privileged to have him in our lives for 17 years.”
Sunnah was fundamentally nice, witty, trustworthy, intelligent, and breathtakingly gorgeous. Her laugh was contagious, and her grin brightened any space.
She was incredibly kind and would go above and above for her friends and family. Being acquainted with her was a true blessing; she was a force of nature. For the rest of our lives, we shall miss her and have missed her.
