ISLAMABAD: As strong and moderate rains are predicted to fall on several regions of the nation in July, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning concerning flash floods and landslides.

The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the NDMA has released a detailed monsoon forecast for the month of July, detailing projected rainfall intensities and potential implications throughout various regions of Pakistan, according to an official statement released on Monday.

According to the forecast, significant to extremely heavy rainfall is anticipated in the fourth week of July, while isolated areas in the Mardan, Malakand, and Hazara divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are projected to see rainfall in the third week of July.

In the first and second weeks of July, there will be isolated areas of 15 to 50 mm of rainfall in the districts of Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala in Punjab, as well as capital territory, Islamabad. In the fourth week, there may be flooding in the ICT, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad, hill torrents in DG Khan, and moderate to heavy rainfall in Sahiwal, Multan, and Bahawalpur.

The NEOC’s most recent predictions state that the districts of Sindh—Mirpurkhas, Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Larkana, and Sukkur—would receive 30-75 mm of rain in July, with heavy to extremely high rainfall predicted in these places during the second and fourth weeks of the month. Astore District, Gilgit Baltistan, and remote areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are expected to get heavy to extremely high rainfall in the fourth week of July.
