The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC)’s most recent meteorological forecast showed “moderate to very heavy rains” during this year’s monsoon time, which prompted the Punjabi authorities to issue an alarm.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab orders to all relevant agencies to remain vigilant under a weather advisory alert.
The PDMA predicts that starting in July, monsoon showers would likely affect portions of Punjab.
first week
In the first week of July, there will likely be heavy rain showers in the Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala Divisions, with a total expected between 15 to 55 mm.
According to the advice, showers in the divisions of Multan, DG Khan, and Bahawalpur are predicted to be less intense and to last longer.
In the divisions of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, and Faisalabad, where 25–35 mm of rain are expected, monsoon activity will continue throughout the second week. In the divisions of Multan, DG Khan, and Bahawalpur, isolated rains are also anticipated.
Week Three
As the monsoon moves into a weak phase, there will be a discernible decrease in downpours in Central and South Punjab, although rain spells will still be strong in Upper Punjab.
The notice further stated that 15 to 25 mm of rain is predicted for the aforementioned areas.
Fourth-week rainfall of 50–70 mm is projected to cause floods in the divisions of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad; hill torrents are anticipated in the DG Khan Division. Additionally, “moderate to heavy rains” are predicted for the divisions of Sahiwal, Multan, and Bahawalpur.
