At Windsor Park, Medina Desic gave Montenegro the lead with a header, and Magill quickly equalized to give the hosts a 3-1 overall triumph.
As a result, League B status for Northern Ireland is maintained.
“The response after the goal is how we want to start games,” she stated.
“In the second half, we demonstrated our character. Even though it would have been simple to sit back and not let up again, we went out and equalized and won the game in the end.
“This is what we have to look to implement going forward.”
Similar to the first leg in Podgorica, Northern Ireland controlled possession and created many clear-cut opportunities until Caragh Hamilton’s attempt was pushed off the line just before halftime.
Magill thinks the miss was a sign of her team’s poor first half at Windsor Park, which she acknowledges could have been nerve-wracking.
“Caragh’s miss summed up our first half,” she stated. The burden rested on us. A team from Northern Ireland rarely enters a game as the underdog.
