The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reports that, in April, the rate of inflation was 17.3%, representing a 0.4% decline. March 2023 saw a 20.7% inflation rate, and April 2023 saw a peak inflation rate of 36.4%.
In this fiscal year, the average rate of inflation from July to April was 25.97%. Urban inflation is down 0.1% to 19.4%, while rural inflation is down 0.9% to 14.5%.
In April, the agency reports that prices for onions increased by 15.8%, vegetables by 12%, wheat by 10.44%, and wheat flour by almost 10% in metropolitan areas. Egg prices dropped by 4.30% and tomatoes by 6.23%.
Prices for fruits, chickpea flour, jaggery, dried fruits, sugar, lentils, pulses, and lentils also dropped.
