NEW DELHI: In depressing news for Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of this week’s annual budget, a survey revealed that more Indians are losing optimism for their quality of life as stagnating incomes and rising living expenses cast doubt on future prospects.
According to a pre-budget survey conducted by polling firm C-Voter, more than 37% of participants stated they anticipate a decline in the general standard of living for average citizens over the course of the upcoming year. This is the largest percentage since 2013. Since 2014, Modi has served as prime minister.
According to C-Voter, 5,269 persons from various Indian states were surveyed for this study.
Indian household budgets and spending power have been severely strained by ongoing, eye-watering food inflation, and the country’s fifth-largest economy is predicted to grow at its slowest rate in history.
