After light to moderate rain fell on Saturday in some parts of Karachi, which is experiencing extreme heat, more rain and thundershowers are predicted for tomorrow (Sunday).
The temperature in the city, which had climbed to 40.5°C during the previous two days while feeling like 56°C, briefly dropped due to an isolated downpour.
However, Friday night and Saturday afternoon’s rains provided some respite for the residents from the oppressive heat.
The Met Office reports that over the previous 24 hours, the megalopolis’s maximum temperature reached a scorching 39°C.For the upcoming week, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy rain, wind, and thundershowers in different parts of the nation, interspersed with periods of clear sky.
Beginning on July 22, strong monsoon currents are anticipated to enter the higher regions from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
According to meteorological expert Jawad Memon, Sindh is also expected to be impacted by the low-pressure system that is developing in the Bay of Bengal, with the possibility of rain in Karachi from July 22–23 and for the whole of the next week.
