More than 1,000 teachers in Sindh who were either absent from work or went AWOL (away without official leave) have had their paychecks halted by the Sindh government.
The provincial education secretary received a report from the Scrutiny Committee.
The committee was set up to look into provincial allegations about phantom teachers.
According to sources, a sizable portion of professors are presently on prolonged leave abroad.
The secretary has directed all district education officials (DEOs) to immediately suspend the wages of the missing teachers in reaction to the report’s conclusions, and formal notifications have been sent out.
Eight ghost instructors who had been living overseas and earning salary for the last two years were fired by the Sindh education department.
