KARACHI: Over 44,000 criminal occurrences were reported in the port city in the first seven months of this year, according to The News, which published a story on Monday. Street crimes in the metropolis remained high during this time.
According to a report by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), the city has seen over 31,000 reports of motorbike theft and snatchings, which is a startling statistic.
It also showed that throughout the previous seven months, there had been over 1,000 reports of auto theft and snatching.
According to the report, over 11,000 cell phones were taken from individuals, and it also stated that 57 instances of extortion and 12 cases of kidnapping for ransom were recorded.
Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar Odho, the Additional Inspector General (AIG) for Karachi, released a performance report covering the previous week.
