Mass evacuations have resulted from an email bomb threat sent to two schools in Noida and about 100 institutions in Delhi, according to India Today.
The article claims that on Wednesday morning, in response to several allegations of a bomb threat, bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and officials from the Delhi Fire Service hurried to schools.
Students were sent home and the school grounds were evacuated shortly after the threat was received.
However, based on preliminary findings, India’s Ministry of Home Affairs asserts that the emails appeared to be a “hoax” and were sent from Russia.
“There’s no reason to freak out. It looks like the emails are scams. The statement stated that the Delhi Police and security agencies are following protocol and taking the appropriate actions.
