The nephew of Liaqat Lehri, a Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), was taken into custody after he attacked a traffic cop. The fact that the young man has not been charged after his arrest raises questions about the integrity of the legal system and the political influence on law enforcement.
The young guy expressed regret for his acts after being arrested, but this did little to allay public indignation or deal with the accountability issue.
The powerful position of the MPA seems to have prevented any significant legal repercussions for the young person involved in the incident, even after a strong warning was issued by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police.
