Transgender woman Mridul Wadhwa resigned from Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC) following findings in a study by Rape Crisis Scotland (RCS) that she “failed to set professional standards of behaviour” and “did not understand the limits on her role’s authority”.
An independent consultant conducted the inquiry and discovered evidence that some women who had contacted the program had been “damaged” by their encounter.
After former employee Roz Adams successfully sued the service in May on grounds of constructive dismissal, the investigation was started.
When Ms. Adams asked her supervisors for advice in June, an employment tribunal judge discovered that she had been the victim of harassment and discrimination.
The judge acknowledged that Ms. Adams, a proponent of gender criticism, was the target of a “heresy hunt” as she did not “fully subscribe to the gender ideology” that the senior management of ERCC endorsed.
Since then, Ms. Adams has moved on to work at Beira’s Place, a support program established by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling for women who have suffered sexual abuse.
