Mohammad Amir, Pakistan’s left-arm fast bowler, has defended former captain Babar Azam, who is the target of criticism following Pakistan’s much-needed home Test victory.
“After Kamran Ghulam’s century, please stop with these petty claims that we won because Babar wasn’t in the team,” he said on X in response to criticism of the former captain. “We won because we had a superior plan and the benefit of playing at home.”
The Pakistan Cricket Board announced some big changes for the second Test match against England. Babar Azam was dropped, along with top fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed.
Since December 2022, Azam has found it difficult to score more than fifty runs in Test matches.
