On Saturday in Quetta, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee would gather to observe the crescent of Muharramul Haram at 1446 Hijri. But according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), there is little chance of seeing the Muharram “moon” tomorrow.
The meeting to sight the moon for the first month of the Islamic calendar will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the chairman of the moon-sighting body.
Simultaneously, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s zonal and district bodies will meet at their respective headquarters.
In the interim, the PMD announced in a statement on June 20 that the Muharram new moon would emerge on July 6 at 03:57 PST at the crossing conjunction point.
The evening of July 6, or the 29th of Zilhij 1445 AH, is not likely to see the new moon of Muharram, based on astronomical criteria.
The PMD stated that because to the moon-sighting body’s increased activity, most of the country is predicted to see partly overcast or cloudy weather.
Furthermore, sources claim that the federal government turned down pleas from a number of provincial governments to halt social media access for a few days during Muharramul Haram.
Due to security concerns, the provincial governments requested that six social media applications be blocked during Muharram for around a week.
