The famous music producer and arranger Quincy Jones, better known by his stage name “Q,” died on Sunday at the age of 91.
He worked with a diverse range of musicians, including Frank Sinatra and Count Basie, and revolutionized pop music with Michael Jackson. His influence on American music lasted for more than 65 years.
Jones won 27 Grammy Awards over his storied career as a trumpet player, bandleader, songwriter, and producer.
He produced the groundbreaking charity single “We Are the World” in 1985, which went on to become one of the biggest singles of its day, and shaped recordings for jazz greats like Miles Davis. He was a prolific force in the industry.
Jones had a successful career as a film soundtrack writer in addition to being a musician. He co-produced the critically praised movie
